By use of the cryoprotective potential of natural tissue components the problem of the limited transport capacity and shelf life of complex tissue models have been be solved for the first time. The cryopreservable assay plate contains 48 frozen tissue constructs which can be stored in the laboratory freezer without any loss of viability and can be used for in vitro toxicity testing after 48 hours of revitalization time in a conventional heating cabinet.
